Employment Opportunity - Track Maintenance Team Member


The Tweed River Jockey Club has an exciting opportunity to join our Track Maintenance Team casually with an immediate start.

 

Located in the picturesque Tweed Valley, the Club conducts 11 race meetings per annum and provides training facilities for up to 110 racehorses on both grass and sand training tracks daily.

 

Being apart of the Track Maintenance team, you will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure training tracks, gardens, grounds and surrounds are maintained to the highest possible standard. This includes mowing, brush cutting, gardening, use of tractors and chemical spraying.

  • Assist with track renovations as required.

  • Assist with race day duties as required.

  • Ensure you are working in line with occupational health and safety procedures set by TRJC.

  • Grounds irrigation maintenance as required.

  • Continued positive and professional culture amongst all staff.

  • Additional duties as required.

 

The successful applicant will have proven experience and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Desirable, or willing to obtain, AQF3 Chemical application level, First Aid & CPR.

  • An understanding of WHS matter related to risk management, manual labour, handling of chemicals used on the racecourse.

  • General mechanical knowledge of machinery.

  • Current driver’s licence.

 

A greenkeeping/horticulture trade certification or other turf management qualification is highly desirable, but not essential, in addition to a thorough knowledge and understanding of the racing industry.

 

The successful applicant will be employed on a Casual basis. The position is based on approximately 20 hours per week with a need for flexible work hours dependent upon racing dates and some weekend work.
